Brittany Landis, trainer for Confident Canines, LLC in New York has had a lifelong passion for dogs and training.

She grew up in a family who always had dogs since the day she was born. From the young age of 6, she took interest in dog training (because the family dog was professionally trained) and she has been consistently studying and researching dog training since she was 12. Brittany graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelors degree in Business in the hopes of one day running a dog training company.

In 2008, before graduating college, Brittany decided to search for a reputable trainer she could shadow and learn from. It was then she found Jeff Nelson, owner and founder of Mutts and Jeff, LLC. She reached out to Jeff and he was willing to work with her, however, due to her busy school and work schedule at the time, she was unable to commit all of her time to training.

Three years later, while working at a corporate job on Wall Street, Brittany found that she was dissatisfied with her career and felt a lack of enthusiasm for the work she was doing. She decided to reach back out to Jeff. She was finally prepared to become a professional dog trainer. Jeff and Brittany reunited and made a business deal. He would teach her everything there was to know about dog training in return for her helping him market his business. It seemed to be a perfect fit, not to mention that they share the same exact birthday!

Brittany decided to leave the corporate world and pursue her passion. For one year after their reunion, Brittany shadowed Jeff at his training sessions and studied the training philosophy that Jeff had created. After several months of shadowing, Brittany knew she had to become more assertive and gain as much practice and experience as possible. To do so, she gave free dog training sessions all over Long Island.

After she completed several months of shadowing and free training, Jeff announced to Brittany that he would be moving to Florida. He offered her the opportunity to take over his business in New York. This was a dream come true for Brittany. She did not hesitate to say yes! From December 2011- January 2014, Brittany ran Mutts and Jeff, LLC in New York.

On April 1st, 2014, Brittany and her husband welcomed their first child, a healthy and happy baby boy. She knew then that it was the right time for her to pursue her lifelong dream of owning and running her own dog training business. Since September 2014, Confident Canines, LLC has been in business, ready to help as many dogs and their owners as possible!
